Dear English Major asked me about the twisty-turning journey into becoming a novelist.
A Community of Stories helps people with a story get it onto the page. During March people came from all over Cincinnati to participate in reading poetry and stories created that day at the open mic. As a mentor, I loved facilitating a small group of folks of all ages and backgrounds and didn’t anticipate how juiced up I would feel about my own writing in the weeks after the event. Write on.
Thousands of writers took over the Emerald City at AWP in Seattle during February where the most common un-common hair color was pink. Writers used to wear velvet dresses back in the day. Got to see Ursula K. LeGuin sign books, and attend a dazzling array of panels. But my fave memory comes from the poet I met on the bus.
